Sunday Maria blogging

I might as well make this a regular feature. My niece is incapable of doing anything, be it eating or sleeping or hopping from person to person without looking insanely cute. Here, the joy of Oreo cookies.

Aaaannndd the star of the blog returns! A chocolate mess never looked so cute. The title "Angels With Dirty Faces" comes to mind.

Incidentally, Drina-diva, didya know Oreo's former chief competitor, Hydrox, actually came first? Hydroxes came out in 1908, Oreos in 1912. According to Wikipedia, Keebler phased out the Hydrox by 1996, after they bought Hydrox's owner, Sunshine Biscuits. Keebler reintroduced a similar cookie called Droxies in 1999; they also market a Famous Amos chocolate sandwich cookie. (I can spend hours cruising Wikipedia.)

In the 1987-91 version of the Justice League, veteran member J'Onn J'Onzz (the Martian Manhunter) became very fond of Oreos after Captain Marvel (who still has Billy Batson's personality and tastes in food) introduced him to them. The writers hinted, but never quite said, that they were addictive to J'Onn's Martian physiology.

Oreos are good, but my favorite cookie is chocolate chip, with oatmeal raisin a close second.

I just now noticed the topknot. Very Pebbles Flintstone.

I've never heard of the Hydrox before, but it sounds kind of scary, like some kind of chemical used for cleaning my bath tub or something. I wouldn't want to eat it. My favorite is also the classic chocolate chip, so long as it isn't the crispy kind, which in my mind is overbaked. Maria seems to like anything with sugar. Today I took her to Cold Stone Creamery for some cake batter ice cream with sprinkles. She was... overjoyed.

And sticky.
