New year's resolution #1
I resolve to make 2005 a Walmart-free year.

If only I COULD do that. My small town's big thing is the Walmart.
Sarah on December 19, 2004 04:59 PMWay to go! Best of luck with your resolution! Wal-Mart is not cool. I have already been trying to make my life as Wal-Mart free as possible. Unfortunately living only about 40 miles from the home of Wal-Mart its pretty hard. The town I live in has the Walton Arts Center, my university has the Walton College of Business, Walton Hall (residence hall), Bud Walton Arena (basketball arena), Walton Reading Room (study area in library), so its pretty hard not to see the influence of Wal-Mart. But for the workers of Wal-Mart we try or darndest to go there only if necessary. If that means driving 15 miles to the only good grocery store, so be it, or paying 3 bucks more at Target, we are happy to oblige.
Rock On!
Jake on December 19, 2004 09:10 PMIf I shopped at walmart, I'd join you in your resolution! But as it is, I really in all honesty don't... Maybe it should be a Shoppers Drugmart Free Year for me, lol.
Good luck. :D
Courtney on December 20, 2004 01:29 PMOne way I look at it is through the Golden Rule: Would I want to work at Wal-Mart? No. So I should avoid doing business there, lest I ask of my neighbor what I am unwilling to do myself.
ringsabre on December 20, 2004 06:54 PMi wish i could do that, but that's one of the few places we have to shop around here. i live in a small town and we have 2 super wal-marts :\
geeky on December 21, 2004 10:31 AMI'm going to take the plunge with you, even though I rarely go to Wal-Mart as it is. Now I'll have one more reason not to go there. I'm part of a movement!
Joan on December 21, 2004 01:41 PMBest of luck to you guys also. Let's raise our glasses to a Walmart-less future!
Drina on December 21, 2004 10:55 PMAmen! I resolve to make 2005 a Walmart free year as well (but for the most part, 2004 was as well... since that's when I started boycotting it).
nikkiana on December 22, 2004 01:13 AMCan someone verify this statement I overheard the other night? I heard that wall mart adds radiation to their meats so they will have a longer shelf life. Also that the wireless web they are adding to each location has been known to cause brain cancer to anyone passing by on a regular basis. If any of this is true I will never set foot anywhere near a walmart again.
