Happy birthday to me
24 hours after the end of my official 2004 birthday, I've come to the conclusion that birthdays are a mixed blessing. Sure, colorful gift boxes and well wishers put a smile on my face, and celebrations are always fun. But this year I experienced a birthday assault on courtesy (and my free cell minutes) by the most feared of all birthday celebrators: my sister-in-law Sarah. Allow me to explain... Sarah, a wonderfully fantabulous friend and fun-loving person, has this habit of calling people on their birthdays and singing to them the birthday song. Lovely. But she doesn't just call once... Oh no, she calls to sing the song as many times as the poor birthday sucker is years old. I'm not kidding. I got 24 birthday songs sung to me... by the same person... on the same day... all while I was at work. One freaking cell ring after another. Seriously, next year I'm tossing my cell out for the day. This assault is something I can do without. 25. Oh man. But I still love presents! Yay!

You get phone calls, I get silly hats. For about 10 years my best friend Tracy and I have exchanged hats that we make and the b day girl must wear it the entire day. No matter how silly, this year I got a headband with stars that lit up and it had a feather boa attached and silly string. I wore it to the mall, to work, to my kids school (much to their embarrassment) but I love it. Any thoughts on how I can get her back??
