Random, randomJune 17, 2004 | 08:58 AMI intensely dislike looking for a new job. Online job searches, resumes, cover letters, everything associated with it. It's something I have to do, or else I'll be broke in 3 seconds flat... it would be great, though, if I didn't have to beat back 500 other people going for the same positions. Since we're on the topic of things I don't like, how about when people don't return phone calls or e-mails? Now, I know I'm horrible at this myself (just ask my old roomie, and she'll probably give you a long list of my offenses) but I get irritated when other people do it. And it seems like in the last week, nobody has called or e-mailed me back. Is it me? Do I have something in my teeth? The GRE test is coming up next week. I'm cramming my brain full of new vocabulary. These are words I'll probably never see again in my life. Is it really necessary for me to know what tonsure means in order to be successful in life? I don't think so. Anyway, my test anxiety is starting to kick in, which I'm sure will get pretty bad in the next few days. I paid over $100 for this thing. Anyone else take it? Comments:On Random, randomGood luck with the test, Drina! Posted by: Courtney at June 17, 2004 09:51 AMGood luck. What is GRE? Steve Posted by: Steve at June 17, 2004 10:09 AMI agree with you. Looking for a job sucks, and people who don't return phone calls and email suck more. Good luck on your GREs! I should probably take mine, but I'm scared :x Posted by: theresa at June 17, 2004 03:31 PMGRE is the Gradute Record Examination, or something like that... kind of like the SAT. Everyone looking for grad schools has to take them and report them to each school they apply to. Posted by: Drina at June 17, 2004 05:16 PMYou should come to Canada and live with me, we don't have to take any extra tests to get into University, college or other grad schools. As long as the grade 11 and 12 marks are high enough and you can afford tuition your in. As for on-line job hunting, I found my job at a job fair. I handed out 75 resumes and had about 20 call backs. I settled on working for UPS and i've been there for 6 years. Good luck in the hunt. :) Posted by: liz at June 18, 2004 11:24 AMjust wanted to let you know that i love your layout.. i was browsing for blogs in ohio and found yours :) cool that you're from cleveland.. i'm from youngstown. Posted by: allison at June 20, 2004 08:15 PMI just took the GRE a few weeks ago with hopes of getting out of my miserably abysmal job- and utterly bombed it!! But I'm ok with that since I didn't really study for it and mostly just took it to overcome test anxiety and the fear of failing it... so when I take it again after preparing I'll know for sure that I can only do better. ;o) Posted by: Nisgore at July 4, 2004 04:04 PM
