I concede, Harry PotterJune 11, 2004 | 06:14 PMI have never been a fan of Harry Potter. Despite the public frenzy (and my roommate's obsession) over Hogwart's boy wonder, I had no desire to read the books or watch the flicks. Really. Give me Narnia any day; plagiarized occultic fantasy just doesn't hold my interest. At least it didn't... until I saw the latest installment of the Potter movie magic. I checked it out with my aforementioned Harry-crazed roomie, and I must say that I was pleasantly surprized. It was a really good movie, even for someone who knew little about the story to begin with. Ron was especially hilarious. So, I concede. Harry Potter is not so bad... I don't expect to be picking up a book any time soon, but another flick or two I can handle. Here's to Hogwarts and the next bewitching action adventure! Comments:On I concede, Harry PotterHarry Potter rules!! And Ron is such a CUTIE!!! LOL to bad he is like 13!!! Posted by: Your old roomie at June 11, 2004 06:47 PMI understand the apathy. That was me a few years back as well. My first intro into the world was through the first movie - and not unitl that came out on DVD. I have since read all five books (am currently re-reading #5) and have been sucked into the world of fandom. I had never been a LotR fan, but after the films came out figured I'd better do some reading before my friends beat me with a hobbit. I can see so many things in HP that, whether consioucly or not, seem to echo Tolkein. But then again, loving Potter got me to love LotR. Go fig.
